New music from The Beat Index makes being on hold a pleasure

Would we all look forward to calling multinational corporations if we got to listen to electronically tinged yacht rock? If our Milwaukee Music Premiere — “Caught in a Lie” from The Beat Index — is any indication … well, we’d certainly look forward to it more.

This undeniably catchy, groovy, upbeat track from Harrison Colby — aka, The Beat Index — is the first single from upcoming album “Volume Two: Thank You For Your Patience,” which comes out Aug. 26. The song’s smooth keyboards blend with a solid bass line to create a 70s soft-rock feel shared by the wider collection of songs, which Colby proudly noted is “an album of on-hold music for automated phone systems.”

A unique way to position an album? Absolutely. But, based on the first single, it works. And so does the accompanying video that features Colby singing into a rotary telephone receiver with a few notable people on the line.

Listen to the song, watch the video and bookmark this page for the next time you’re stuck on hold. Because we value your business and appreciate you for choosing 88Nine for all your Milwaukee Music Premiere needs.
