King Courteen blurs the lines between contrasting genres

While Milwaukee has a thriving hip-hop and rock scene, folk hasn't been as widespread across the city. King Courteen is changing that. In preparation for his debut release, "Old Adam," the artist recently released a four track EP "Bucker Boy," a snippet of what's to come from the debut.

"Bucker Boy" takes a experimental approach to the rather traditional genre. With the expected soft harmonies and soothing guitar, King Courteen incorporates mellowed synths, vocal effects and ominous tones that both compliment and balance the classic rustic sounds of folk. The ambient compilation is a great example of how to blur the lines between contrasting genres, putting listeners into a unique trance-like place.  Listen to the genre-bending "Buckey Boy" below.
