Toronto-based guitarist Afie Jurvanen’s solo project, Bahamas, has a stripped-down and contemplative sound that focuses on doing more with less, allowing his voice and guitar to do most of the heavy lifting on his quiet indie folk meditations.
You’ve heard him during his time playing with the likes of Feist and Howie Beck before his first release as Bahamas in 2009.
His newest album, “Earthtones,” is as minimal as the name suggests. It includes his signature precise melodies and a smooth soul sound.
Listen below to his performance of “No Expectations” at KUTX Music 98.9 in Austin.
And, tune in to 88Nine on Friday as they swing by for a Studio Milwaukee session before their Turner Hall ballroom show that evening.
