Listen to new music from John Coltrane, Velvet Negroni, FKA Twigs, and more

On this episode of Rhythm Lab Radio, we had a special Live From The Lab with Minneapolis artist Velvet Negroni, who recently dropped his debut album "Neon Brown" on 4AD.

We also featured new music from Moonchild, Mahalia, Bob Moses, FKA Twigs, Sampa The Great, Kindness and Brainfeeder artist Salami Rose Joe Louis. Plus, we played a track from a previously unreleased album from John Coltrane.

In the first hour, we sat down with Velvet Negroni, the alter-ego of creative polymath Jeremy Nutzman. He just released the experimental R&B album "Neon Brown" on 4AD. He also performed a few songs from the album in front of a live audience.

Raised in an outer suburb of the Twin Cities, Jeremy Nutzman -- a black kid adopted into a white evangelical Christian family -- split his formative years between classical piano lessons and late night jam sessions. A duality that permeates every corner of his music, with forthcoming album "NEON BROWN" thriving in the borderlands between indie rock and R&B. Having already notched writing credits for Kanye West and Kid Cudi, plus a forthcoming feature on Bon Iver’s next album, Velvet Negroni spent summer touring with Tame Impala, including two nights at Madison Square Garden.
