Maybe you're like me and 'discoverd' Ethiopian music through the now-legendary Ethiopiques music series. With over 20 releases and counting, France's Buda Musique has been crucial for a lot of people to discover the golden era of Ethiopian groove. If you haven't relly heard Ethiopian music this series is a great primer. Many of the artists and a fair number of the songs on this mixtape came to me through these compilations. Of course, there are a few exceptions in the mix but overall I think this is a solid mix of songs culled from many great compilations and albums and represents some of the biggest names from Ethiopia's vibrant music scene of the 60's and 70's.
