Sometimes the best laid plans go awry in ways that are altogether okay.
That’s what happened this weekend when my attempt at making a mixtape of new roots reggae somehow became a super old-school affair. Ended up full of some fine, vintage 60’s era rocksteady and ska.
This is what would become the bedrock for reggae music. But in those early days, you can also hear the clear influence of rhythm and blues.
