The Sound Travels mixtape from Sunday featured more music inspired by my ongoing obsession with afrobeat. Evident throughout the week, I just said "why not?" when the weekend arrived and divulged some more funk from the vaults. Vintage and current, these are some of my favorite jams and the precursor to the live event that flew without a flaw at The Nomad.
Bigups to Kid Millions, Eltronix and DJ Avets for more than holding their own in the mix. A fun night that featured a pretty gamey crown that came, and did get down. In any case, the support is always welcome and speaking of…that's a big reason why I've been so afrobeat crazy all week. Antibalas is coming to Turner Hall this Wedmesday night and yours truly is opening up for the group. Very excited to say the least! Not sure who or what an Antibalas is? Then this mixtape is for your education and their edification.
