Reframing the Conversation Around Slavery in America and the Effects We Still Feel
In August of this 2019, The New York Times released their 1619 Project as an ongoing conversation to re-frame America’s memory of slavery and the residual effects of it. As the most segregated city in the United States, Milwaukee is faced with the task of unpacking our role in said history and what we, as a collective city, can do to go from being complacent to being actively anti-racists.
Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019 from 6:30-9pm, Dr. Amber Tucker, Reggie Jackson, Nat Godley, and Cree Myles will host a conversation centered around the 1619 Project’s theme, how America’s history shaped Milwaukee, and what we, as Milwaukeean’s, can do.
This event is supported by Fem Fest, D&S Healing, and 88Nine Radio Milwaukee.
