Alice's Garden Splash Bash
July 6 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
Milwaukee-- 6/25/19 --On July 6, 2019, 10 am - noon, people of all ages are invited to attend The Splash Bash, at Alice's Garden Urban Farm 2136 N 21st St., Milwaukee, WI 53205.
This will be a celebration of the completion of Alice's Garden 4.2kW solar powered Rainwater Harvesting system. Largely designed, constructed, and supported by contractors and volunteers located in Milwaukee's urban community, the system consists of a bioswale for catchment and filtering, an underground cistern containing additional filtering and pumping, and a 4.2kW off-grid solar system bringing electrical power to the site. It is designed to produce 20,000 gallons of highly filtered rainwater collected off playgrounds at nearby Brown St School. When filled and energized there will be water for crops irrigation and off grid electrical power enabling a wider variety of events.
The system will also be diverting 20000 gallons of water from the regional storm sewer system.
Gardeners are excited at the chance to ease their dependence on treated city water.
