Local musicians and entrepreneurs Jared Judge and Allison Schweitzer are teaming up with Visit Milwaukee’s Dave Larson to offer a unique workshop for area musicians this summer. The event is entitled DNC 2020 for Musicians: Preparing, Performing, Prospering.
On Saturday, July 20th No Studios in Milwaukee will host the free hour-long event. Musicians may stop in and find out more about what hosting the Democratic National Convention means to the city of Milwaukee, and how that will affect the local music scene, in specific.
The 1:00 PM workshop will open with Dave Larson’s presentation on what to expect from the massive national convention. He will discuss what the DNC means to the community from a broad perspective, convention logistics, and give the most up-to-date answers on how the DNC will work with regards to musicians.
Jared Judge of BookLive, a company that offers performance management tools for musicians, will be the second featured speaker. Jared’s presentation is “Getting the Gig: Outreach, Contracts, and Payments,” which will help musicians gain valuable business skills that they can immediately apply towards opportunities created by the convention and set them up for success beyond the DNC.
Allison Schweitzer of the networking organization Music, Biz & Banter will talk on “Putting Yourself Out There.” This will emphasize the importance of person-to-person networking, organizations available for musicians to connect through, and how building relationships happens much more efficiently offline than on.
“The goals of this event are to provide musicians direction on how to better position themselves for DNC performances, as well as establish a strong business foundation that will help them long-term.” – Jared Judge, Owner and Founder of BookLive
