Redefining Landscapes of the UWM Art Collection
April 18 – May 16, 2019
Emile H. Mathis Gallery
Land · scape: Redefining Landscapes of the UWM Art Collection explores the subjectivity of defining landscapes in art through four lenses. The Deconstructed Landscape highlights agency within the act of viewing and asks visitors to consider how landscapes are constructed through perspective. In a similar vein, Ephemeral Landscapes explores how landscapes are constituted through time and embodied experience. Landscape and Power asks visitors to consider the power of nature weighed against humanity’s intervention into landscapes. Bodies and Landscape explores the multiple ways bodies interact with landscapes, construct landscapes, and are even considered landscapes themselves.
Opening Reception: Thursday April, 18th from 5-7pm
Organized by the Graduate students of Museum Studies II
