A Color Bound Art Exhibition With A Multidisciplinary Twist

Newly established artist studio & Gallery – Crawford Collective is pleased to present a themed group exhibition co- curated by Milwaukee artists Amanda Stein and Anna Rodriguez. This one night extravaganza will be showcasing new works by national and international artists based in Milwaukee Wi. The air will be filled with sounds from a local musician and smells of Milwaukee food Truck Drift.

Join us as the Crawford Collective transforms their gallery space into a color bound exhibition to behold. “The Monotonous life of Roy G. Biv” personifies the whimsical imagination of a man who never was . Co-curators Stein and Rodriguez demonstrate their enthusiasm for the art of curation through their newfangled exploration of installation in a gallery space. An environment encapsulated by a kaleidoscopic conglomeration of performance and multidisciplinary visual art is vibrantly complex, yet methodically soothing. The semblance of nostalgia lingers in thought, as the complexities of consciousness are transported into an introspective world beaming with color.

This event will feature (14 +) artists whose work encompass a vivid appreciation for the delicacy in coloration.: Wazaloo, Anna Rodriguez, Matthew Bailey, Cecilia Palacios, Cassie Genc, Dwellephant, Tom Stella, Gregory Rodriguez, Nick Ortiz, Jen Boyle John Kowalczyk, Reid Sancken, Allison Smith and Alonzo Pantoja. Each artist has a work ranging in discipline, as each utilizes a vibrant exploration of color & context within their work.

Cassie Genc is an inventive Milwaukee-based illustrator and 2014 MIAD graduate. Genc was handpicked for the color red.

Cecilia Palacios is a Milwaukee-based illustrator and 2017 MIAD graduate. Palacios was handpicked for the color orange.

Dwellephant (or Milan Zori) is a widely recognized Milwaukee-based illustrator who has done work for Alverno Presents. WMSE, Milwaukee Film, and MAM. Zori was handpicked for the color yellow.

Gregory Rodriguez is a Wisconsin-based oil painter who focuses on rural scenes, landscapes and the occasional portrait. Rodriguez was handpicked for the color green.

Wazaloo (Sarah Kennedy) is a Milwaukee-based illustrator whose profound black and white illustrations are the desired work of many national and local musicians, specifically show posters. Wazaloo was handpicked for the color blue, or was blue handpicked for Wazaloo?

Tom Stella is a Milwaukee-based artist who works in several mediums. His work ranges from expressionism to realism. Stella was handpicked for the color indigo.

Anna Rodriguez is a Milwaukee-based illustrator and comic strip artist. Rodriguez was handpicked for the color violet.

Matthew S. Bailey is a Milwaukee-based oil painter with a wide array of subjective matter and strives to address topics like social justice, non-violence, and environmental issues. He was handpicked for the non-rainbow spectrum color black.

Nicolaus Ortiz is a Milwaukee based visual and video artist. Ortiz will be projecting a vibrant stimulating moving picture show.

Jen Boyle is a self taught multi media artist. Boyle has an appreciation for all things odd in life. Her extravagant thrift store finds, both inspire and cultivate her work to create 3-dimensional conglomerations of collage, craft and found objects.

John Kowalczyk is a Milwaukee based artist whose work is comprised of mixed media paintings and larger than life installations The collaged elements of his work become more than the sum of their parts exhibiting a spiritual nature. Kowalczyk will be displaying his sculpture “Sphynx Snake Oil Salesman.” A 3′ x 4′ paper mache/collage sculpture.

Reid Sancken is a mixed media artist with work ranging from video to sculpture. With a Master of Arts from Eastern Illinois University, Sancken has been featured in group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States. A version of his sculpture “Cheecho” will be on display.

Allison Smith(Alli’s Myth) is a Milwaukee based artist who creates mischievous characters in a cartoon-like style; of which are presented in painting, drawing, and/or sculpture. With overtly emotional expressions, each whimsical being is comical yet melodramatic in individuality – bringing a curiosity to interpretation. Alli will be displaying a set of her wood panel creatures.

Alonzo Pantoja is an MFA candidate in Fiber and Installation at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. In 2016, he completed a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the Peck School of the Arts, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Through the use of material, color, texture, humor and gay cultural associations, Pantoja’s work exhibits an arrangement of tactile materials that may appear out of place, but in visual harmony.


Amanda Stein earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2015. In 2016 Stein curated “The Red Light District” located at Shaker’s Cigar bar, an exhibition that manifested the historic metamorphosis of Milwaukee’s identity of underground scandals, conflict, murder and prostitution. In 2018 Stein curated “Abby Jeanne’s Cosmic Weekend.” A whimsical exhibition of psychedelic art featured alongside local and national music performers. Stein has utilized her passion for creating to excel in the art of curation. Her appreciation and devotion to constructing neoteric artistic experiences is the drive to support fellow artists and compatriots.

Anna Rodriguez is a self taught artist born and raised in Wisconsin. In 2013 Rodriguez worked along-side Timothy Westbrook at the Pfister Hotel to organize the holiday art and craft show. In 2014 she hosted a weekend craft market at MSOE. In 2015-2016 Rodriguez volunteered her time for Bay View Art in the Park. In 2016-2018 Rodriguez organized several readings to promote her chapbook, Gold Leaf Bones, and young adult fiction Novel, Eden and the Eastern Glow. Rodriguez has a perseverance that will never relinquish, her dedication to exceed artists’ and patrons expectations is truly an exceptional quality.
