Virtual Class: Pickling Pickles

Learn to make your own pickles using a hot water bath canner. We will prepare a batch of Dilly Beans. Handouts with instructions, recipes and helpful tips are included. A supply list will be provided. This course will occur online.
Materials Needed for Class: 7-8 clean pint jars w/ rings and new lids, 4 qts. whole green or wax beans (about 4 lbs.), 8 fresh dill heads or 1 1/2 tsp. dill seed/dry dill weed per jar, 8 garlic cloves (optional), cayenne pepper or 8 small hot peppers (optional), 1 qt. 5% acidity white vinegar, canning/pickling salt, canning kettle w/ rack, jar lifter, butter knife/chopstick, small saucepan, medium to large stockpot, spatula/wooden spoon, measuring cups/spoons, kitchen towel, 9×13 casserole dish or something comparable, pot to heat hot water or an express kettle.
