Singer, producer & multi-instrumentalist B~Free, is a Milwaukee native who has dedicated her life to music. The release of her latest self-produced sophomore album, the "Ode 2 A Luv Affair LP," was hailed as the #1 Milwaukee Album by the Journal Sentinel in 2017. Having performed in a number of venues throughout the country, Free has shared stages with a variety of artists and provided direct support as the opening act for Janelle Monáe's Milwaukee tour date at Summerfest 2018. With recent curation and production credits for Black Lens of MKE Film, Washington Park Wednesdays and "MJ Uncovered" from Alverno's Uncovered series, B~Free currently serves her musical community as a curator, educator, and artist of all sorts.
In partnership with the Marcus Performing Arts Center and Hip Hop Week MKE, multifaceted renaissance woman B-Free presents her latest curation, “Ladies First: A Tribute to women of Classic Hip Hop & R&B!” Celebrate the work of pioneering female acts of the 80s & 90s who’ve transcended the music industry and beyond. Hear live performances of songs by MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, En Vogue, Janet Jackson, Missy Elliott, TLC & many more! In addition to Free herself, this women-led roster is compiled of some of the city’s top performers and local favorites in Hip Hop and Contemporary music, including: Auti Marie, Brit Nicole, Dailen Harris, Grey Genius, Jayne Joyce, Kia Rap Princess, Kyndal J., Ms. Lotus Fankh, Mudy, Shle Berry & DJ Nikki La Bomba. With over 20 artists covered in 50+ tunes, this empowering showcase is sure to deliver, while keeping Ladies First!
