Ever wish you had the chance to learn about your favorite artist's favorite artist? That kind of recommendation can set you off on a whole new path of music discovery, which is something the 88Nine team is all about.
With sonic exploration in mind, I'm kicking off something Thursday afternoon that just might become a regular thing on my show: a DJ takeover from an artist we love. We've done these things here and there with the likes of Mary Timony and Yo La Tengo's James McNew. This time around, I invited Milwaukee's very own Ladybird to take over the Afternoon Drive from 4 to 5 p.m.
The entire hour belongs to them. They’ll curate the soundtrack, play their all-time faves and spin whatever music they’re listening to right now. Generously, they'll do all of that in the midst of preparing a national tour that kicks off this September and includes an opening slot with Horseshoes & Hand Grenades at the Pabst Theater on Oct. 11.
