Partner Spotlight: Weather Tight Corporation
Each month we celebrate a local business or organization that supports 88Nine Radio Milwaukee. This month, we chat with Weather Tight Corporation.
Hi, what is your name and title at Weather Tight Corporation?
Lindsey Rae Gannon, Senior Marketing Manager, Weather Tight Corporation.
What is one song you can't stop listening to?
"Lost on You" by LP.
What are you passionate about in regards to our community and what is Weather Tight Corporation doing for the community?
The thing that is truly exciting to see in our community right now is the amount of creativity and positive energy people are putting into staying in touch and connecting to others when we can’t physically do so. For many this year has been quite the roller coaster. For my team and I, it has shown us the importance of being more creative with our processes, how we do business and how we engage those around us when our usual means of communication are halted.
While we continue to do food and toy drives as well as giving other donations for those in need, Covid-19 has put many restrictions on what we are able to do safely. Earlier this year we had to make the decision to put a hold on all Customer & Community appreciation events. This was not ideal as we love our interactive customer events and look forward to when they can start back up again. Until then we will continue working to find creative ways to engage from a distance and let everyone know Weather Tight is here if they need us.
How did Weather Tight Corporation get started and how can the community support your business?
Our President, Tod Colbert, started Weather Tight in 1986, after the window company he was working for closed. What began as a one-man operation steadily grew until Todd Schulz joined the company in 1990 as our first Sales Manager, only to sign on shortly thereafter as Co-Owner & Vice President. In the beginning Tod and Todd were responsible for every step of the way, including working trade shows and canvassing for leads. Now they are still very much involved in most aspects of the business but customers mostly know them as the faces of Weather Tight who grace their TV screens with commercials and Tips on how to improve the quality of their homes.
Over the years the company has blossomed, with a great and demanding emphasis on customer service at the center of it all. They, alongside their management teams and staff, have worked diligently to create a company that has developed a reputation of being fair and reliable. Over the last few years, in considering their futures, it was this reputation along with the love they have for their staff that helped launch Tod & Todd’s decision to turn the company into an ESOP and make it Employee Owned.
What are some highlights from 2020 and what's in store for 2021?
This year has been quite interesting. While focusing on being able to provide the necessary support to the staff amid a crisis and still maintaining the high level of service we offer our customers we were extremely thankful and proud to have seen a couple record breaking periods. Only time will tell if these trends will continue but many of the highlights for this year can be seen in the internal processes or systems that have been created or made stronger. These processes will be what allows us to continue to operate and provide excellent service to our customer base even if things were to continue as they are.
Since there are so many things to consider and many more unknowns for this year, we are going into 2021 cautious but optimistic. Our expectations for next year are much like every year, to build on our reputation as a trusted remodeler and make choosing Weather Tight easy.
Why do you choose to support 88Nine?
As a local employee owned company, Weather Tight is unified with 88Nine in a shared goal of completely satisfying those we serve. Being a partner of 88Nine has given us an exciting avenue to vocalize and demonstrate our dedication to our customers and the people of our community by providing fun and creative ways to connect with them.
As a long time listener, it has been a pleasure working with a team that believes whole heartedly in the city of Milwaukee and the people who make it great.”
