Every week, Kristopher Pollard from Milwaukee Film and Radio Milwaukee’s Dori Zori talk about movies — because that’s what you do when you’re Cinebuds.
Watching a particular movie — or movies — has become a holiday tradition right along with decorating the tree or pretending you’re super excited about the present you got even though it’s not from your list and you told this person very specifically that while it’s fine to get creative, the list is there for a reason and they should use it.
Anyway, speaking of lists, we’re willing to bet you have a weathered scroll of holiday films that you unfurl and work your way through every year. Some are nice. A few might be naughty. But all are part of your personal media-consumption tradition.
However, like Scrooge preparing to retire for the evening just before the arrival of Jacob Marley (or Jacob and Robert Marley if you prefer the best version of A Christmas Carol), perhaps you have a nagging feeling that something needs to change. That your seasonal watchlist might need some sprucing up. That deep down, in places you don’t like to acknowledge, you always thought Eyes Wide Shut was a Christmas movie.
Consider this episode our early gift to you.
Tear off the nonexistent wrapping paper, and you’ll find Dori and Kpolly having a spirited conversation about “Season’s Screenings” from Milwaukee Film — an adventurous series of holiday selections, many of which are pulled right from the bottom of Santa’s bag.
Use the player at the top of the page to hear our merry elves dive deep into what we all watch this time of year, roast one or two on an open fire, and unwrap the ones they might not be quite as familiar with.
