Each week on This Bites, dining critic Ann Christenson from Milwaukee Magazine and Radio Milwaukee’s resident foodie Tarik Moody dig into the city’s culinary and restaurant culture to help you find new spots, old favorites and the best ingestibles around Milwaukee.
Dads aren’t always the most forthcoming people. Even on a holiday specifically devoted to them, you’re likely to get a “Oh, don’t make a fuss over me,” or “We can do whatever,” or “Why don’t you guys pick?” Luckily, you have us to rely on — at least when it comes to taking dear ol’ dad out for a bite.
That’s the first thing you’ll hear in this episode, which uses a helpful article from Ann’s Milwaukee Magazine colleague Kristine Hansen as a conversation starter about dining destinations for Father’s Day.
Maybe your particular patriarch is a brunch guy who would appreciate one of the Lowlands Group’s cafés. It’s possible he likes lunching instead, which might take you to The Explorium Brewpub. Then there are dinner options like Mason Street Grill. Between our chat and Kristine’s article, we’ve got the whole day covered.
Speaking of coverage, let’s fan out across the city and see what else is going on:
- Ann took a break from Top Chef recaps last episode, and I know you missed it. I didn’t. But she’s back with another one anyway.
- Two classic Milwaukee pizzerias, Maria’s and Lisa’s, got their recipes resurrected by new owners.
- Perhaps the most fascinatingly named restaurant in recent memory will open soon in Walker’s Point — Cute Robot Japanese Kitchen.
- Visit Milwaukee just released its first-ever cookbook, and I bet you can guess the title. That’s right, it’s The Milwaukee Cookbook.
We’ll release our next episode exactly when you expect it: next Friday morning. Until then, enjoy exploring the area’s food scene, and if you appreciate what we put together here every week, drop us a rating or review wherever you listen. Thanks.
