A spiritual episode on the new, the now and the legendary

La Dame Blanche leads another batch of the best Latin alternative on "La Alternativa."
La Dame Blanche leads another batch of the best Latin alternative on "La Alternativa."

Latin alternative's diversity was on full display in this episode, beginning with an artist who brings a deeply expressive and spiritual vibe, accompanied by the enchanting sounds of the flute. La Dame Blanche's "Veneno" truly set the stage with powerful lyrics and mesmerizing rhythms.

Also known as Yaite Ramos Rodriguez, La Dame Blanche hails from Pinar Del Rio — the Westernmost province of Cuba — and is now based in Paris. She's been surrounded by legendary musicians literally from day one thanks in part to her father, Jesus Aguaje Ramos of the Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra. That creative atmosphere bursts from her music as a multifaceted artist capable of blending rap, vocals and instrumental prowess.

Another exciting project we discuss on this episode is Angélica Garcia's debut album, Gemelo (meaning "Twin"), set to release June 7 via Partisan Records. Produced by Carlos Arévalo of Chicano Batman, the album LP a blend of electronic pop and spiritual introspection, which we hear on lead single "Color De Dolor" as Garcia explores themes of grief within a kaleidoscope of pop sounds. Her work delves into cultural boundaries, ancestral exploration and the duality of self, offering listeners a textured journey from delicate melodies to visceral intensity.
