Fuel Cafe's 5th Street location is now solar powered

Wednesday, Fuel Cafe flipped the switch to solar energy—literally. They had a giant light switch at the public event where they ceremoniously changed over the power.

Now sixty solar panels that were recently installed on the rooftop of Fuel Cafe in Walker’s Point power part of the restaurant.

Fuel Cafe is now one of three restaurants in Milwaukee to use solar power, joining the RiverwestCo-op Grocery and Cafe and Bounce Milwaukee.

Fuel’s $44,000 solar project adds to its current sustainability efforts of composting and using locally sourced products. And this investment should pay off with an estimated cost savings of $4,300 per year.

We hope this is one of many more solar powered restaurants and projects to come for Milwaukee.
