Bloody Mary Festival returns this August, hopefully with chasers

Bloody Mary Festival

A lot of people like Bloody Marys. For me, they fall into the bucket of things that seem like a good idea until about halfway through. Like karaoke. Or any movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (except Moana).

Anyway, if you’re a fan of the spicy tomato concoction, mark Aug. 12 on your calendar for the fourth go-around of the Bloody Mary Festival, which returns in a new location: the Mid Gate Pavilion at Henry Maier Festival Park.

The previous three iterations of the BMF took place in the shadow of Fiserv Forum, where people from all walks of life picked up sampler glasses of tomato juice and vodka with things from your spice rack dumped into them and various foodstuffs sticking out and said, “Sure, that looks refreshing.”

This is all good-natured ribbing, of course (Has anyone done a Bloody Mary with a pork rib accessory? Someone should get on that.). If you or the people you love really adore Bloody Marys, that’s great, and you should all immediately get tickets for the festival. They’re on sale right now, with four options available:

  • Session 1 (VIP) — 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Session 1 (general) — 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Session 2 (VIP) — 3 to 6 p.m.
  • Session 2 (regular) — 3:45 to 6 p.m.

Regardless of which one you choose, you’ll get Bloody Mary samples from all participating vendors (who will be announced later); food and beverage samples from other presumably non-Bloody Mary-related local companies; a vote for the People’s Choice Award; and temporary tattoos, photo opps and other engagement-type things.

For more information and to pick up tickets, head over to the Bloody Mary Festival website.
