A music documentary, a wonderful co-host and all that jazz

Every week, Kristopher Pollard from Milwaukee Film and a mystery co-host talk about movies and maybe — just maybe — become Cinebuds.

This week, I'm joined by the one and only Dori Zori. Radio Milwaukee's very own! What a treat! We talk about a new documentary that focuses on a Louisiana staple, “Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story.”

In the more than 50 years of its existence, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has brought legendary performers to the city. From Mahalia Jackson to Bruce Springsteen, Katy Perry to Al Green, the list goes beyond jazz musicians and includes more than just the old guard; it celebrates the future of music as well.

I know this because (somewhat embarrassingly considering my co-host for this week) I hadn’t heard of several people featured in the documentary. But now I MUST find out more about them.

The film also explores beyond the fest to celebrate the city and all the elements of its culture that make this annual event what it is today. So grab a trombone and a beignet, and join us!
