Milwaukee tightens Covid-19 restrictions, limiting public gatherings and prohibiting dance floors

The City of Milwaukee announced tighter Covid-19 restrictions on Monday. Amid signs of increased spread of the virus, the city's health department will impose a 25% capacity limit on public gatherings, allowing a maximum of 10 people at indoor public events and 25 people at outdoor events, excluding employees. Religious or political events will be capped at 100 people under the order, and they must stay seated unless they are arriving, leaving or using the restroom.

The new restrictions go into effect on Thursday, and come as Wisconsin has confirmed more than 200,000 cases of the coronavirus.

The order tightens restrictions on bars and restaurants as well. For restaurants and bars without an approved Covid-19 safety plan, capacity will be limited to 25%. Patrons have to be seated except when they're arriving, leaving or are walking to the bathroom.

Dance floors are also prohibited under the new order. Some Milwaukee dance clubs had continued to draw large crowds during the pandemic.
