In recent years, there has been huge growth in career opportunities in the tech sector, especially right here in Milwaukee. That is why the MKE Tech Coalition is hosting an MKE Tech Career Expo on Sept. 14 for high school or college students and adults who are reskilling in tech.

The expo will be virtual and will take place from 12-6 p.m. and is part of the MKE Tech Talent Accelerator, which is a series of connected experiences aimed at advancing early tech talent in the Milwaukee region.

From the press release:

To address the growing need for a strong early talent pipeline, the MKE Tech Hub Coalition is presenting a virtual Tech Career Expo on September 14, in conjunction with Summerfest Tech, and sponsored by Northwestern Mutual. This event will connect individuals interested in pursuing tech careers to local companies as they explore the future of tech jobs together.

The MKE Tech Career Expo is for high school or college students and reskilling adults who are looking to pursue a tech career. Participants will make valuable connections, explore the variety of tech and tech-enabled jobs available and learn how to prepare for successful careers in the growing field of technology. The goal of the Expo is to inspire the next generation of tech talent and retain them in the region post-graduation. To do this, it’s imperative that early tech talent understand the breadth and depth of careers available to them and can see themselves in Milwaukee’s thriving tech ecosystem.

The event is fully virtual and will take place from 12-6:00 p.m. Attendees can come for some or all of the afternoon. The Tech Career Expo, hosted in Booth Central, features a main tent with keynote speakers who will discuss how technology is transforming careers, industries, and society. Sponsored employer booths will provide information on the early talent recruitment process and details on how to prepare for these high-demand roles, plus networking opportunities with local tech leaders.

“Everyone is excited to see the inaugural MKE Tech Career Expo come to life and we are thankful for our members and partners who inform and grow capacity for regional tech talent pipeline strategies. It’s inspiring to see the community come together to guide and support

those who are interested in tech/tech-adjacent opportunities but might not know where to begin.” said Laura Schmidt, Chief Talent Development Officer, MKE Tech Hub Coalition.

“It’s exciting to see an event connecting students to the wide variety of tech opportunities in the Greater Milwaukee region. We’re proud to sponsor an event that pulls together partner organizations that demonstrate a commitment to local talent.” said James Hischke, Vice President of Tech Workforce Programs, Northwestern Mutual.
