You may have noticed us talking a lot about listening lately. Everyone at Radio Milwaukee is digging into the results of our most recent listener survey. We just launched a five-county listening tour. Now, you’re about to see that we don’t just listen to you. We HEAR you!
Next Monday is the start of our spring membership drive — the first to feature a lot of changes based on feedback we received from you. The biggest one: We cut the drive in half, from 10 days to just five, so we can bring you more of the great music and stories you ask (and expect) from us.
Another change: We’re not waiting to deliver on that promise of more music and stories. Every day during the drive will have a different theme that you’ll hear on the air and see on our website. Even better, we’re opening our doors for three of those days so you can visit us, meet local organizations, take photos and more.
Here’s what we have planned and when you can stop by our Walker’s Point studios (in-person events in bold):
- Monday, May 8 — Nurses Appreciation Day
- Tuesday, May 9 — Pet Appreciation Day (11 a.m.-3 p.m.)
- Wednesday, May 10 — Studio Milwaukee Session with Ondara (11:30 a.m.)
- Thursday, May 11 — State of Sound with The Oshi (5 p.m.)
- Friday, May 12 — A Very Radio Milwaukee Mother’s Day
As part of these changes, we need help from you. Our listeners provide the largest share of our funding, and we still need to raise all the money we usually do — but now in half the time. There are many ways you can help depending on your relationship with Radio Milwaukee.
1. If you’re not a member, become one
We appreciate any and all support, which is why we offer a “one-time donation” option on our Membership page. So if you have the means and want to show us you like what we’re doing, you can definitely go that route.
What really keeps Radio Milwaukee going are Sustaining Members. When you become one, you provide us with a consistent funding source that helps us plan for the future, and expand our music and story offerings. Plus you get some cool stuff in return (more on that in a second).
2. If you’re a Sustaining Member, boost your gift
Like we said: We appreciate your support, and if this isn’t the time to move up a level as a Sustaining Member, we understand. But if it’s possible to do so, we’ve meticulously chosen some spring-themed merch and special experiences for new Sustaining Members, as well as existing ones who boost their gift. You can see everything on offer by visiting our Membership page.
As an added bonus, Plant Land has committed to giving anyone who increases their sustaining gift a free voucher for a small plant (succulent or herb, while supplies last). We’re so thankful to have local businesses like Plant Land helping us grow and hope you’ll help, too. If you’re interested in upgrading your Sustaining Membership, fill out the form here.
3. Whether you’re a member or not, spread the word!
Post to your social account. Send a text or an email. Have a real-life conversation. Hire a skywriter if you’re feeling fancy. However you’re most comfortable sharing, please tell your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers — EVERYONE!!! — about why you like us and why you think what we do is important. Add a link to a podcast episode you really loved or just to our homepage so they can stream one of our stations. More listeners and readers means more opportunities for our music and stories to entertain, enlighten, enrich and inspire.
If you have any questions about the spring membership drive, please feel free to email us with the subject line “Membership Q&A.”
Thank you for everything you do to support Radio Milwaukee, and don’t forget to tune in, visit the website and come see us in person May 8-12!
