Local nurses share what drives them to care

Members of the Greater Milwaukee National Association of Hispanic Nurses celebrating their official proclamation from the city.

Members of the Greater Milwaukee National Association of Hispanic Nurses celebrating their official proclamation from the city.

Everyone involved with Radio Milwaukee — our staff, our listeners and our members — work to make our city a better place. That gets extra attention during the spring membership drive going on right now, and we wanted to share some of that attention with another group striving to improve the city and its people: nurses.

This is the perfect time to highlight these heroes because it’s National Nurses Week, a time to show our gratitude for those who work tirelessly to care for the sick, comfort the afflicted, and provide hope and healing to those in need. We decided to show our thanks by sharing the inspiring stories of three nurses from our community: Dominique Hyatt-Oates, Cynthia Aguilar Tovar and Samantha Gonzalez.

You can hear from these amazing individuals (and frequent Radio Milwaukee volunteers!) using the “Listen” button at the top of the page. And if you’d like to help us continue elevating stories and issues that matter most to our community, please consider becoming a member today.
