Going on right now in Chicago is the annual James Beard Awards show. This year, one Milwaukee's Justin Carlisle is a finalist for the Best Midwest Chef category. Carlisle is the executive chef of Ardent on the East Side.

The other nominees for “Best Chef Midwest” are Minneapolis’ Paul Berglund from The Bachelor Farmer; St. Louis’ Kevin Nashan from Sidney Street Cafe; St. Paul’s Lenny Russo from Heartland Restaurant & Farm Direct Market; and St. Louis’ Kevin Willmann of Farmhaus.
