On this week's edition of This Bites, we're talking about a new German restaurant on Brady Street and Ann's glowing review of Birch, the restaurant formerly known as Birch + Butcher.
But first we discuss the Milwaukee Public Market's Harvest Festival. It's on Oct. 23, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., and will take place across the street from the market. It'll feature sampling of Lakefront Brewery's pumpkin ale (tapped from a giant pumpkin), it'll have apple cider tastings, pumpkin bowling, and a scavenger hunt along the Milwaukee River. There will also be food trucks including Meat on the Street, Press Waffles and Lush Popcorn. Ann has all the details at milwaukeemag.com.
Brady Street has a new German restaurant and bar
WürstBar is now open for business. The new German restaurant is located at 1239 E. Brady St. and features a large selection of German and local beers on tap.
"WürstBar’s food menu is a mix of traditional German fare and modern street food. Classic German food options include Spätzle, German potato salad and sausages from Usinger’s and Bunzel’s Meat Market. Street food options will feature Döner kebabs, schnitzel tenders and currywurst," Milwaukee Magazine reports. "The food menu initially will be available from open until midnight daily. The restaurant will roll out a limited brunch program over the first few weeks of operation."
This is a big deal for a city that prides itself on its German identity, but doesn't actually have a huge selection of German restaurants anymore.
Hear us talk about all that and more on this week's episode below.
