Each week on This Bites , dining critic Ann Christenson from Milwaukee Magazine and Radio Milwaukee’s resident foodie Tarik Moody dig into the city’s culinary and restaurant culture to help you find new spots, old favorites and the best ingestibles around Milwaukee.
How creative can you get with a BLT? After all, the name is the ingredients: bacon, lettuce, tomato. Well, a soon-to-open place on the West Side is about to show us.
Sully’s Sandwiches plans to start serving in early January at 9211 W. Center St., right next door to its sister eatery, Miss Molly’s Café & Pastry Shop. As Ann reports in her Milwaukee Magazine article, we can expect some delicious spins on traditional fare, including “a BLT with hickory smoked bacon and bacon jam on brioche.”
We’ll dish out more details in this week’s episode, along with the usual chatter about what’s happening around the city:
- A new place for carnitas on South 27th Street gives you a chance to enjoy the slow-cooked pork — if you get there in time.
- Sweet Joy Brazilian Café will soon be serving coffee and breakfast items on Brady Street.
- Café Corazón opened a new location in Brown Deer, balancing the one leaving the Mequon Public Market at year’s end.
- Also in Brown Deer, Urban Beets Cafe & Juicery opened its second location.
