The Milwaukee mob </br>that saved a runaway slave

There's a brown historical marker off to one side of Cathedral Square Park in Downtown Milwaukee.  It's easy to miss, but if you get up close, you'll see bold white letters that read: RESCUE OF JOSHUA GLOVER.

I'll be honest -- I'd never noticed that sign, and until recently, didn't know Joshua Glover's complete story.

But that changed when I visited the Wisconsin Black Historical Society last week and spoke with Executive Director Clayborn Benson.  He shared the incredible story of Joshua Glover, a runaway slave freed from jail -- by a 5,000 person mob -- in Downtown Milwaukee.

Click the podcast player above the photo to hear Benson's account.
