The iconic RC's on North Ave. is closing after 44 years

It's an end of an era on North Ave.

RC's bar will close its doors after 44 years in the business.

The final day of operation will be Saturday, April 28, for RC's Bar and the owners are planning an "Irish wake"-style sendoff. RC himself will be on hand to raise a glass to the business he built, and the public is invited to join starting at 5 p.m.

RC's was the first in what would become a large portfolio of bars and restaurants owned by the family, including Water Street Brewery, Trinity Three Irish Pubs, So Lo Pizza, Black Rose, The Harp, Louise's and The Vagabound, among others. Those businesses are going strong and owners say they want to focus their attention on them.

OnMilwaukee's Bobby Tanzilo wrote about the history of the RC's in his column and joined me in studio for an extended conversation.
