Sitting atop a hill and overlooking the Lake Michigan, this mansion is a stunner

This week on Urban Spelunking, we're visiting a mansion on the East Side of Milwaukee, and it's befitting of the nickname OnMilwaukee's Bobby Tanzilo coined for it and its neighbors: The Lafayette Rivera.

Sitting atop Lafayette Place, a lovely hill overlooking the lakefront and surrounding parks, the Tudor revival home was built in 1897 by Albert Gallun, a wealthy tanner and who was born into the family business.

The home and the few homes around it are each stunning in their own ways, but this home in particular boasts unique orange brickwork, peaked rooflines and incredible craftsmanship inside.

The home was recently listed for sale, which gave us a reason to dig into its history and peek inside. Bobby toured the home and got some great photos, as always, and shared highlights from his tour this week on the podcast.

Listen below and visit OnMilwaukeefor more history and photos.
