You've surely heard the real estate adage: "location, location, location." And it doesn't get much better than this Milwaukee mansion overlooking Lake Park.
"The roughly 10,000-square-foot 1896 Tudor Revival home at 2743 N. Lake Dr. is also for sale," writes OnMilwaukee's Bobby Tanzilo in this week's Urban Spelunking story.
The mansion was most recently home to Hal Leonard Publishing CEO Keith Mardak and Mary Vandenberg.
Designed by Alexander C. Eschweiler, a prolific Milwaukee architect who designed a variety of styles of buildings including municipal buildings and private residences, the mansion was built for Edward G. Cowdery.
Cowdery was the general manager for Milwaukee Gas Light Company and built the home for "a mere $433,980 in 2020 dollars," Tanzilo writes. "While that’s a lot, of course, one can’t help but wonder what it would cost to build the same home with the same craftsmanship today. Surely, at least one zero should be added to the right of this sum."
