8 ways to get into Summerfest for free

I'll be the first to admit it: spending money scares me.

And every year when summer rolls around, I feel like all of the "fun Summer expenses" start adding up: there's the beer gardens, the water parks, the food trucks, the Watermelon margaritas from that Mexican restaurant that has a great patio.... and, of course, the summer music festivals.

But with Summerfest now in full swing, thankfully the music festival has been looking out for people like us, and nabbing a free ticket is relatively easy.

Check out these 8 ways to get free admission for the remaining days of Summerfest:

WEDNESDAY, JULY 6:

  • Be over 60 years old.

Ok... so I guess you can't DO this, technically, but, hey, if you're over 60 you can get in for free on Wednesday AND receive $2 off any purchase of $10.

  • Eat a bunch of Chicken Kabobs

I don't know if I've ever eaten a Johnsonville Chicken Kabob before, but it sounds (and looks) pretty good. Buy a pack of any flavor and you'll receive a free weekday admission ticket.

  • Go buy a Harley (or already own one)

OK, so apparently Harley owners have their own "secret club card???" ...I feel left out. Either way, if you're in the secret "I've got a Harley" club and have your H.O.G card, bring it along and get in for free. And don't forget to wear your helmet on the way there.

THURSDAY, JULY 7

  • Bring your Military ID

All active-duty military AND veterans (along with up to four family members) get in for free on Thursday with a Military ID.

  • Dew the Dew

Mountain Dew has special cans this year with free Summerfest admission on them- bring that can along and get free admission on Thursday.

FRIDAY, JULY 8

  • Shop at Boston Store

Or bring your Boston Store Your Rewards Credit Card along, at least, for 2 free admission tickets.

SATURDAY, JULY 9

  • Clean out your bookshelf

Do you have three copies of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" collecting dust on your bookshelf? The first 1500 people who donate a new or used children's book will get free admission... plus the books will be donated to the Betty Brinn Children's Museum!

SUNDAY, JULY 10

  • Just show up

...Between noon and 3 pm. Free admission for all: thanks, Meijer!
