A local family is still adjusting to life without their loved one, Wil Lewis.

The 28-year-old photographer was accidentally shot to death in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood in July, caught in the crossfire between rival gangs.

Lewis, a graduate of the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, had just moved to Chicago to begin his career with his wife, Maria.  He was out exploring his new neighborhood, taking pictures to adorn the mantle of his new apartment, on the night he was killed.

Now, in the wake of that tragic event, the family is keeping his spirit alive through a scholarship at MIAD.  On a webpage launched shortly after his death, the Lewis family is collecting donations to support photography students.

You can support the effort directly here.
