Get Involved @ Your Local Neighborhood Association

Last December, 88nine partnered with Cardinal Stritch University’s audio storytelling class to produce a series of stories focused on volunteerism.

Audrey Nowakowski created this lovely story about dog walkers at the Wisconsin Humane Society, but she also produced a short PSA for the Bay View Neighborhood Association.

We didn’t have a chance to share it back in December, but it’s never too late to pass along good work.

That got us thinking.

Have you ever dropped by your local neighborhood association?  They’re almost always looking for volunteers, and getting involved is a great way to interact with neighbors and build community.

Check out these stories on BVNA — I went to Chill on the Hill last year, and former producer Lisa Goldman sat down with its Environmental Chair Rob Miller in 2011.

And here’s a great list of local neighborhood groups from the City of Milwaukee.
