Does Disney’s 'Pinocchio' nail it or come off a little too wooden?

Dressed as Geppetto, Tom Hanks talks to Pinocchio in the Disney film's 2022 version.

Every week, Kristopher Pollard from Milwaukee Film and Radio Milwaukee’s Dori Zori talk about movies — because that’s what you do when you’re Cinebuds .

This week on Cinebuds, we talk about Disney's newest “classic animation turned live action but still also animation a bit,” Pinocchio. As a young puppet who also hopes to be a boy one day, you'd think this would be right up my alley. We'll see.

It's an often-remade story, with nearly a dozen incarnations over the years. But Disney's 1940 version is the gold standard. Will the newbie live up to the original, or will it carve out a life of its own? (Nice one. Thanks!) We'll break down our reactions to the film, and talk about what else we've been watching and what we’ll watch in the future (the Guillermo del Toro Pinocchio?).
