The Milwaukee Film Festival is underway! There are hundreds of movies to choose from and it's all virtual. Picking movies can be daunting with all that freedom! We want to make it a little easier, so the Cinebuds are going to pick one movie a day that they are excited about. Hopefully that will make it a little easier. Today's pick: Los Sonambulos (The Sleepwalkers)
Family tensions come to a boil during a summer vacation in this Oscar submission from Argentine filmmaker Paula Hernández. Luisa’s (Erica Rivas, WILD TALES) teenage daughter Ana has inexplicably begun sleepwalking at night adding strain to her disconnected marriage to domineering Emilio. Beautifully photographed featuring subtly contained performances the film slowly builds to an explosive and cathartic climax.
