“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to look at what’s going on out here; you can’t put a band-aid on a gunshot wound. We first have to acknowledge the damage that is done, the trauma… you have to uplift your brother. Where he is weak, you need to be strong.”
Each summer, through events, mentorship and public gatherings, Heal the Hood encourages neighbors to come together and promote peace and safety in Milwaukee, and now going into year six, Ajamou says the mission is still stronger than ever.
