In order to combat lead piping in old houses, the City of Milwaukee will provide residents with water filters this month, according to the Milwaukee Health Department. The devices will be available for anyone living in houses that qualify for the free filter program. Click or call 414-286-2830 to learn if you are eligible for the program. Lead in drinking water can pose several health risks if consumed. These risks are heightened by old houses and their lead piping. The photo above illustrates how the piping connected to houses has potential to be a lead-based. In order to combat this, the City is providing free water filter systems to homes that qualify.
