On this week's edition of This Bites, we're talking all things dumplings. We also discuss a cool pop-up that's happening at Laughing Taco and revisit a classic steakhouse. Stream the episode below.

The new edition of Milwaukee Magazine is out, and Ann did a dumpling roundup. We're both huge dumpling fans, and Ann shares five of her favorite places, including a top pick that's worth the extra time and effort (expect to wait about a half an hour for your order): Lucky Ginger, at 221 N. Water St. Other favorites include DanDan, The Cheel, Easy Tyger and Momo Mee.

This coming Sunday, Chicago will host its World Dumpling Fest at Navy Pier. They do all types of dumplings, including pot stickers. It sounds like it's worth the drive.

Next, Ann previews an a few unusual cooking classes, including one about polenta, and teases her feature on dining at the Deer District in the latest issue of Milwaukee Magazine.

And then Ann visits Jake's Steakhouse, a classic family steakhouse with dishes like panko-crusted walleye and truffled deviled eggs. Jake's has also modernized its menu a bit by offering mocktails. It also has a dessert tray, which lets you see your dessert options before you order. It's really hard to get out of Jake's without ordering dessert.

And finally, we close this edition of This Bites with news of a pop-up at Laughing Taco. And no, it isn't tacos. Jennifer Kim from the Chicago restaurant Snaggletooth will offer a menu of cured fish and bagels, including trout pastrami. Think of it as a celebration of both Jewish and Mexican cuisine.
