Plan a perfect Milwaukee beach sunrise picnic

On this week's This Bites, Ann shares the perfect summer picnic at a Milwaukee beach, and we have some interesting news about Nessun Dorma's plans for the Riverwest 24 and the return of The Diplomat. Plus we share our ideas for what we'd like to see become the new restaurant at Turner Hall.

Ann's perfect Milwaukee beach picnic kicks off with a breakfast sandwich from Donut Monster (5169 N. Elkhart Ave., Whitefish Bay), which are made on a homemade English muffin. She also recommends Rocket Baby pastries (especially the monkey bread) and the bottled juices sold at the Sherman Phoenix; her favorite is called Purple Haze. It's a perfect way to spend a morning at Bradford Beach, Atwater Beach or South Shore Park, she says.

Nessun Dorma honors Riverwest's Fuel Cafe

Nessun Dorma is doing something different for this weekend's Riverwest 24. The restaurant has created a menu of classic favorites from the original Fuel Cafe in Riverwest, which shut down during the pandemic.

Check out this nostalgic menu; they even brought back the Buttafucco.

The Dipomat returns

The East Side's The Diplomat (815 E. Brady St.) is going to reopen this month. The restaurant, celebrated for its small plates. and its signature Diplomac burger, will return on Wednesday, July 28, after closing its doors in March. The restaurant had been doing carryout during the pandemic, but closed in order to prepare for the return for in-person dining. It'll be great to see that space back in action.

Hear us talk about all that and more on this week's This Bites below.
