This week on This Bites, we talked about an invasion of Ramen in Milwaukee; possible places to get soup dumplings, and a couple of places to have an amazing outdoor dining experience.
Not too long ago, there only a couple of places to get good ramen – Ardent’s Red Light Ramen and The National. Now, you can find ramen almost everywhere. Check out the various types of ramen. We also talked about the film “Ramen Girl” starring Brittany Murphy, which I highly recommend you watch. You can watch the trailer at the bottom of this story.
Every Friday and Saturday from 10pm-12am, Wine Maniacs host Ramen on the River. For $20, you will get a bowl of ramen with a glass of wine. UPDATE: Ramen on the River has been temporally suspended.
Movida, which is known for Spanish tapas, will be opening a Ramen shop called Yokohama 1910 on the East Side where Yield Bar use to be located. The restaurant is scheduled to open later this fall and will serve a variety of draft cocktails.
Clear lounge at the Interncontinental offers a lunchtime ramen menu. They offer a traditional Tonkostu ramen and a Kaiju ramen, which has Nueske’s Slab Bacon.
We also discuss soup dumplings coming to Milwaukee. Merriment Social plans to offer a variety of soup dumplings. It is also rumored that the forthcoming DanDan restaurant will offer soup dumplings. If you are not familiar with soup dumplings, basically they are dumplings filled with a very rich broth, usually made of pork.
Finally, Ann & I discussed a couple of places to enjoy an amazing outdoor dining experience. Recently, the site Only In Your State listed the top 10 places to have an amazing outdoor dining experience. We highlighted a couple of those places.
