Slice of Ice at Red Arrow Park

A small slice of winter fun in the middle of Downtown Milwaukee

In December of 1999, the Parks Department competed redevelopment of the Downtown

Milwaukee's 1.2 acre Red Arrow Park, which faces Wisconsin Avenue between Kilbourn and State Street. The project included a 9,000 square foot permanent ice rink called "Slice of Ice".

"People live in Wisconsin for a reason....four seasons," says Milwaukee County Parks Director Jeff Baudry. Red Arrow Park's "Slice of Ice" ice skating rink is one winter activity that can be enjoyed by all, even if Milwaukee weather is less than "wintery". The rink is a refrigerated oval, larger than the Times Square Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink. It can comfortably accommodate 100+ skaters at a time and the ice remains frozen in temperatures up to 50 degrees.

This family friendly rink is free if you have your own skates. Rental skates are available for a small fee in sizes from toddler size 8 to women's 11 and men's 14.
