This is the first vaccine clinic of this kind that we've done for at least a decade. It's a partnership with PetSmart Charities and the Humane Society of the United States.

Behind North Division High School is Franklin Square, a small neighborhood park. Last
Saturday, it was filled with people from the neighborhood and their beloved pets. Dogs all ages, all sizes, all breeds, waiting for free vaccines given by vets, vet techs and over 40 volunteers.
"The vaccine clinic is a part of a bigger program called Pets For Life", says Angela Speed, Director of Community Relations at WI Humane Society. "All year in the 53206 zip code, we are going door to door letting people know about the resources available. If people aren't able to make the clinic today, we will let them know about their other opportunities."
Milwaukee's 53206 zip code is an underserved community without access to grocery stores, fresh food, pet stores and vet clinics. Free services like this are in high demand. The WI Humane Society will continue to help the community with the Pets For Life project all year long.
The WI Humane Society hoped to help at least 300 pets with free vaccines, dog food and harnesses. The final count from Saturday: they vaccinated 376 dogs and cats.
