Jazz in the Park kicks off downtown

It's a sure sign of summer -- Jazz in the Park at Cathedral Square Park.

The 12-week concert series kicked off earlier this month, but cruddy June Wisconsin weather kept all but the most hardcore picnickers away.

It was a different story, however, on week two, when thousands descended on downtown Milwaukee -- hummus in hand -- to enjoy a beautiful day and some live music.

The annual event is organized by the non-profit East Town Association, and his year's lineup includes talent from Milwaukee and nationwide.

Find the full schedule  here.

Jazz in the Park is every Thursday night, with happy hour starting at 5 p.m. and music beginning at 6.  Since 2009, attendees are no longer allowed to carry in alcoholic beverages, but they are allowed to bring in their own food.  Beer, liquor, and wine by the glass and bottle are available for purchase.
