As promised, I delivered an hour long mix of Turkish psychedelia; rock, soul and funk from Anatolia. As with Friday's Sound Travels, a bevy of vintage Turkish grooves was the official prequel to festivities at the Nomad World Pub.
Really was inspired by the Turkish people to play this stuff, as their struggle to define what it means to be Turkish continues in their fight to save Taksim Square and I thought that though many might ignore their story, maybe I could provoke some consciousness in our area by playing some very heady, vintage sounds from the 60's and 70's...
