Sound Travels got some new Latin music for today's program. Though not really major releases, the music I shared from Australian breakbeat producer Omegaman and Richmond, VA's Bio Ritmo were calient enough to turn the grey of this day away.
Omegaman, one of the producer/performers signed on the Fort Knox Record Label is an in-demand remix artist and given the goodness of this cut, I'd say it's time to to stop renting and own that funky house...
Bio Ritmo certainly lives up to their name, which translates to "the rhythm of life."The eight to ten member ensemble is known for a classic Nuyorican salsa sound made famous by the Fania All Stars in the 1970s that combines African Caribbean rhythms from son, bomba, plena, and salsa with electronica and big band brass. Their latest single "Picaresca" shows some savvy, teaming the band with world music purveyors, the Paris DJ's Soundsyem label imprint for the release of this very hot tune...
