The Milwaukee County Board is expected to vote later this month on whether to confirm John Dargle as the new director of Parks.
Dargle, 49, comes to Milwaukee from Fairfax, VA, where he headed the Parks Authority. He brings 18 years of parks and recreation experience to the position, as well as 8 years of Military service.
"Milwaukee has a such a diverse system," he said. "It's a little unique from other states and communities where you've got both urban, suburban, as well as natural and cultural resources."
Dargle said he wants the Parks to acquire accreditation from the Commission of Parks and Recreation Agencies and is working on a 5-year strategic plan for the system.
As far as specifics -- Dargle remained rather tight-lipped, as the County Board has not yet officially confirmed him.
Dargle replaces former Director Sue Black, who was fired last August.
