Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra

Every week in Riverwest, a group of musicians gather to play an almost extinct instrument -- the mandolin.

In fact, Milwaukee is home to one of the world's longest-running mandolin orchestras.  Founded in 1900, the Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra has brought smiles to the faces of listeners for more than a century.

Right now, the mandolinists are getting ready for their upcoming performance at the Pabst Best Place on October 13.

What does a mandolin sound like?  How did the group get started?  Click the podcast player to tag along with Intern Alison Henderson as she visits the rehearsal.
